Questions and Answers on USP 797
Questions and
Answers on USP Chapter 797 with Clyde Buchanan:
-
Question B20: Clean Rooms -
Does JCAHO expect pharmacy to have a cleanroom (i.e., a
buffer room) in place when we are surveyed in the Spring
of 2005?
-
Answer B20: JCAHO surveyors
may address those sterile preparation standards that are
already a part of current JCAHO standards. In 2004,
JCAHO standards did not mention buffer rooms. By January
2005, JCAHO will require an action plan for each
accredited healthcare organization that will bring the
organization into compliance with USP 797 within a
reasonable period of time. (For more information, see
the
slide presentations from the ASHP Summer Meeting and
the
timetable for JCAHO compliance expectations.)
